Last night, anonymous activists painted the walls of Alex Wood Hall in protest against the inaction of MP Daniel Zeichner and the Labour Party as a whole in the face of genocide. This came at the end of a day of action called by the Palestinian Youth Movement in the UK, who demand an arms embargo on Israel, an end to RAF surveillance flights over Gaza, British sanctions against Israel and the resignation of David Lammy.
An activist said: “Despite representing a city with active Palestinian campaigns across the community and universities, Zeichner has toed the genocidal party line, failing to stand for a ceasefire or any meaningful justice for the Palestinian people. People have tried contacting him about Palestine, but all we get is half-baked apologies for the zionist regime. He can’t claim to represent Cambridge while he’s ignoring so many of us who want an end to genocide, occupation and colonisation.”
Alex Wood Hall has been targeted multiple times by activists over Labour’s failures locally, nationally and internationally.
Over the past 22 months, tens of thousands of Palestinians have been murdered by Israel. Far more have been displaced. Over recent weeks, the intentional starvation of Gazans has escalated, with Israel refusing aid trucks access. Where aid crosses the border, Israel frequently opens fire on people seeking help. The UK Labour party are yet to take action against this genocide.
