In the early hours of yesterday morning, activists left an entire toilet in front of the Cambridge Labour Party offices on Norfolk Terrace, whose seat read “no trans segregation” and in which was planted a flag reading “where do we go now?”
This was to draw attention to the trans community’s plight as the new EHRC guidance on single sex space access threatens to recommend services totally exclude people purely on the basis of whether they “look trans” – whatever this means.

The Labour Party’s failure to listen to or protect the UK trans population in the face of a fascist moral panic, and Daniel Zeichner’s embarrassing equivocation and flaccid hand wringing over the subject whenever probed by constituents have made local trans people and their allies lose faith in the Labour Party. Theirs is not a party of kindness or democratic representation if it so readily nibbles from the hands of wealthy bigots.

Image descriptions:
Three pictures of a toilet bowl, toilet seat, and flag in front of the Cambridge Labour Party Office, Alex Wood Hall, Norfolk Terrace, Cambridge. The flag is planted within the toilet bowl which is full of gravel. The toilet seat reads “NO TRANS SEGREGATION” and the flag reads “WHERE DO WE GO NOW?”. The flag is painted with a classy diagonal rendition of the blue, pink, and white trans flag. The first photo is taken at night at an angle with the bog, flag, and Alex Wood Hall entrance illuminated by flashlight. The second photo is taken in daylight square-on and shows the toilet located immediately adjacent to the entrance of Alex Wood Hall. The third photo, also in daylight, shows a close-up of the flag and the toilet seat. There is some pink powder on the seat and the sidewalk.
